We spent several years searching everywhere, including Thailand, for someone to help create the perfect Thai meals for Amy’s customers, but with no success. And then, serendipitously, in Amy’s own Tech department, we found Olarn who is part-owner of a Thai restaurant right here in Santa Rosa where our plant is located. We immediately asked him to prepare some Thai dishes for us and he did. They were so delicious that we knew our customers would love them. Pad Thai is Amy’s mom’s favorite. “Pad” is the Thai word for stir fried, but the dish itself is of Vietnamese origin, which was adopted by Thailand in the 1940’s and soon became a popular food served by street vendors there. In the West it is the most often ordered item on Thai restaurant menus. The traditional Thai sweet and sour taste forms the basis of Amy’s version of this dish of broad rice noodles with tofu, julienned carrots, green onions, broccoli and baked cashews instead of the more commonly used peanuts in the sauce. We’re sure you will find Amy’s Pad Thai delicious and most satisfying.
